Do you want to gain momentum, to make real change in your life? Do you want to start eating better, moving your body, recover from an illness or injury,

But are you feeling stuck? Exhausted? Not sure where to start?

MOMENTUM

boost, encouragement, energy, strength, drive, impulse,

…………………………………………………………………………………………..

Below are some tips to help you get started gaining momentum

(with a printable planner)

START

In order to make change and gain some momentum, you just have to start. It can be small steps it doesn’t need to be dramatic and you don’t have to change everything all at once. If you do it will lead to feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, feeling of failure and burnout. Start with one or two small changes and keep doing them each and every day.

Start by taking some time out to think about what your goals are, you can break these down into categories – Heath, Love / Family, Relationships, Career / Money.

“It’s very simple; just look at your life to see where you’re heading. You’re always in a momentum of something.”

– Maria Erving

REFOCUS

Once you have a list of things you want to achieve, get some focus. What changes can you start making now? What is a priority? It may be that you may be working too hard, feeling overwhelmed and stressed so you need to make more time for rest, taking a bath in the evening and trying to get some quality sleep. Add in a yoga pose (legs up the wall is one of my favourites) and try to disconnect from technology.

Or it may be that you need to gain momentum to get up and do something, maybe you’ve had really low mood and feeling sluggish so getting outside for a walk in fresh air 3 times a week. Put in some music or listen to an inspiring podcast or audio book.

You may have a lot of things you want to change but starting small will make these achievable and help to keep the momentum going.

REFRESH

“Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.”

– Buddha

What we do each day is what’s important, how do you start and end your day? Have a think about your morning and evening routines. You will slip up, go back into old habits, doubt why you started. Just start each day afresh, you can do this, keep going!

REFLECT

Once you start making these changes, reflect on how you are feeling, pay attention to the very subtle differences you notice. Often we have very high expectations of ourselves and want results fast, but overtime the small little changes will lead to the big dramatic changes you are looking for.

“The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves out into the open. Do it. Throw yourself.”

– C. JoyBell C.

On reflection there may be some things that are not working for you and you may need to change depending on the time of your life, seasons, health concerns. Keep adapting, changing and growing.

RESULTS

This is what we’ve been waiting for, putting in the hard work day after day to gain the results you are looking fro which could be decreased pain, improved sleep, better movement, feeling stronger, making healthier choices, having more energy.

“Enthusiasm is the energy and force that builds literal

momentum of the human soul and mind.”

Bryant McGill

CELEBRATE

Often we quickly move on to what’s next . . . take time to celebrate, go for a massage, take a day off doing nothing, treat yourself to your favourite restaurant. Do something that will really set your soul on fire and make your feel good.
