3 simple ways to reduce Oedema (swelling) during Pregnancy
Oedema is excess fluid in your tissues, it’s normal to experience some of this during pregnancy as your body retains water to produce more blood.
It’s also normal to have some swelling in your legs and feet of you spend long hours on your feet. Along with swelling you may also feel aching and tender joints, and stiffness.
You may not be able to stop the swelling from happening during pregnancy but there are things you can do to make you feel more comfortable and reduce the severity of the swelling.
The Yoga + Ayurvedic way to help reduce the swelling;
Raise your legs - Legs up the wall pose or rest on chair or sofa
Cat / cow pose can help with circulation
An Ayurvedic Tea of Coriander, cumin, fennel tea
Boil 2 cups of water, add ½ teaspoon each of whole coriander, cumin and fennel seeds.
Let them steep for 5 mins, remove from heat, strain and drink
During pregnancy you can have 50% more fluid in your body and you may find swelling moves to your hands and feet, meaning you may need to remove your precious jewellery.
